Jess, I totally agree. I am now a supervisor and performance reviews and salary reviews are totally separate. It is the stupidest thing ever. Sadly I don't see this change any time soon although we've gone down to once a year from twice a year at my company.

God, twice a year would be a nightmare. Discussing your employees' performance on an ongoing basis is such a novel idea, apparently. Reuben, if you can get away with being total shit and only being reminded of it in a formal setting once a year, I'd like you to tell me your secret.
